George Van Tassel, a man who some called “the first hippie”, walked away from Southern California’s booming aerospace industry in 1947, not long after Kenneth Arnold’s infamous UFO sighting near Mt Rainer and the even more famous Roswell Incident that shortly followed - the two sightings that collectively, with other lesser known sightings in the summer of ’47 - kicked off the roots of modern UFO lore.
